Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, has made a notable statement by excluding Prince Andrew from a wedding photo in her recent social media post, as the controversy surrounding his past resurfaced with the release of A Very Royal Scandal.
The 64-year-old shared a heartfelt tribute to her late mother, Susan Barrantes, commemorating the 26th anniversary of her passing. The post included a cropped image from her 1986 wedding, featuring only Ferguson and her parents, with Prince Andrew conspicuously left out.
This post coincides with the debut of the Amazon Prime series, which dramatizes Prince Andrew’s infamous 2019 Newsnight interview that led to his withdrawal from public life due to his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Reflecting on her mother’s life, Sarah wrote, “She was far too young to be taken from us… I often think of her zest for life and her shining spirit. Like all of us, she made mistakes but taught me to value each day and to treat people with kindness.”
Although divorced since 1996, Sarah continues to reside with Prince Andrew at Royal Lodge and remains a supportive presence in his life. The couple shares two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and three grandchildren. Despite the current scrutiny, Sarah’s focus appears to be on honoring her mother’s memory and maintaining a strong family bond.
