Duchess Sophie Follows Kate Middleton's Lead with Heartfelt World Sight Day Tribute

Duchess of Edinburgh to read CBeebies Bedtime Story, echoing Kate Middleton's focus on children’s development

Duchess Sophie is set to pay tribute to Princess Kate by following in her footsteps with a special television appearance. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, will mark World Sight Day on October 10, 2024, by reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story, just as Catherine did in 2022.

Sophie will be reading Specs for Rex by Yasmeen Ismail, a story that encourages children to embrace their uniqueness. In a newly released trailer, she emphasised the importance of eye health: "World Sight Day is a reminder to all of us to take care of our eyes, whether we need glasses or not."

Her appearance is seen as a tribute to Kate Middleton, who frequently advocates for children’s early development through her Shaping Us project. Sophie’s decision to read on CBeebies reflects her admiration for Kate’s work in highlighting the significance of children's early years.

King Charles also acknowledged Sophie’s upcoming appearance, with Buckingham Palace sharing details of the event on social media, giving a royal nod of support to the Duchess’s contribution to the important cause.
