Harry Attends Charity Event Solo as Royal Family Members Stay Distant
The Duke of Sussex appeared in high spirits as he arrived in London for the WellChild Awards, just miles away from Buckingham Palace and Windsor. Attending the event without Meghan Markle, Harry was seen smiling as he entered the central London venue, one of the few UK events he continues to support in person following his departure from royal duties.
The event, which celebrates the achievements of seriously ill children and their families, saw Harry meeting with the winners during a pre-ceremony reception. Also in attendance were Sir Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, and TV presenter Kate Garroway. However, no royal family members were expected to join him.
Despite being close to Windsor, where Prince William and Catherine reside, and within reach of Buckingham Palace, Harry has no reported plans to see his family during this visit. King Charles remains in Scotland, and the Prince of Wales is reportedly in Windsor with his family, while Catherine recovers from chemotherapy.
Harry, who has been patron of WellChild for 15 years, has previously avoided family encounters during recent UK visits, and this trip appears to follow the same pattern.
