Former Bodyguard Defends Meghan Markle Against 'Dictator in High Heels' Allegations

Ex-Security Guard Reveals Duchess's Warm Nature and Struggles with Royal Life

Meghan Markle’s former bodyguard, Steve Davies, has come forward to defend her in response to accusations from ex-staff members who labelled her a "dictator in high heels." In an interview, Davies shared his experiences working closely with the Duchess of Sussex, challenging the negative portrayal of her as difficult and villainous within the Royal Family.

Davies, who first met Meghan in 2016 while she was living in Toronto, described her as warm and considerate, even amid intense media scrutiny. He revealed that Meghan struggled with the transition from actress to duchess, stating, “She receives a lot of unfair criticism… the portrayal of her as a villain is misleading.”

Recalling his time with her, Davies emphasised Meghan’s respect for others, stating, "There’s one huge lesson I learned from her: It’s give respect to get respect." He also shared a personal story of taking Meghan on a rare grocery shopping trip, highlighting her desire for a normal life.

Davies acknowledged the pressures she faced under Buckingham Palace’s control and defended her character, noting that while some Royal staff found her challenging, in Toronto, "nobody had a bad word to say about her."

Despite no longer working for her, Davies still considers Meghan a friend, adding that they remain in touch and that he would gladly work with her again.
