King Charles and Prince William Omitted from Paperback Edition's Acknowledgements, Sparking Family Speculation
In the upcoming paperback edition of Spare, Harry has notably left out King Charles and Prince William from the dedication, raising questions about ongoing tensions within the royal family. The new edition, set for release in late October, is dedicated exclusively to “Meg and Archie and Lili… and of course, my mother,” Princess Diana, marking a shift from the original 2023 hardcover dedication that included his late mother, Meghan, and their children.
Spare, which became a global bestseller, selling over six million copies and setting a Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling nonfiction book, remains unchanged in its content. The title reflects Harry's experience as the "spare" within the royal hierarchy, and the memoir delves into his strained relationships with his brother and father, his frustration with UK media, and the lingering trauma from Princess Diana's tragic death when he was just 12.
Harry's revelations about his family dynamics continue to generate public interest. In Spare, he admits that certain events between him and his brother, William, and to some extent with his father, are not fully disclosed: "There are some things that have happened…that I just don't want the world to know. Because I don't think they would ever forgive me."
The paperback edition will hit U.S. shelves on October 22 and the UK on October 24, coinciding with the release of a new book by Mike Tindall, titled The Good, The Bad & The Rugby—Unleashed. Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan reside in California with their children, Archie and Lilibet, and recently purchased a home in Portugal, marking a return to Europe after being evicted from Frogmore Cottage in 2023.
The relationship between Harry, William, and King Charles remains strained, reflecting the broader fallout from Harry's departure from royal duties and his move to the U.S.
