Kate Middleton Leaves Cancer-Stricken Teen in 'Massive Shock' During Windsor Meeting

Budding Photographer Shares Unforgettable Encounter with Princess of Wales

Sixteen-year-old photographer Liz Hatton, who is battling a rare and aggressive form of cancer, has opened up about her emotional meeting with Princess Catherine at Windsor Castle. During an appearance on BBC Radio 4's Today program, Hatton shared the details of her encounter with the Princess of Wales, who embraced her after an investiture ceremony hosted by Prince William.

Hatton, diagnosed with a desmoplastic small round cell tumor and given a prognosis of six months to three years to live, described the moment as a "massive shock," adding that she and her family were not expecting to meet the royal couple—except for her little brother, who somehow had an inkling!

Invited to photograph the event, Hatton had the chance to capture the investiture before meeting with Catherine and William privately. Reflecting on the experience, she said, "Talking to them was amazing because it was like talking to anyone, just normal people. There was no sort of grandeur about them, just humanity and kindness."

Hatton’s meeting with the future Queen was part of a series of unforgettable experiences offered by the palace, leaving the teen with memories she will cherish forever.
