King Charles Finds Respite in Australia Amid Anti-Monarchist Criticism

Support from Australians lifts King Charles ahead of his anticipated tour

King Charles has received uplifting news from Australia amid ongoing backlash from anti-monarchist groups as he prepares for his upcoming tour.

According to Daily Mail, a recent poll conducted by The Daily Telegraph in Sydney reveals that Australians' support for the monarch is on the rise. One in four Australians now holds a more favourable view of King Charles since his coronation, with only 5% expressing a decline in opinion.

For those unfamiliar, King Charles serves as the King of Australia and its head of state, though the Australian Republic Movement continues to advocate for the establishment of a republic. Despite this, the King has remained neutral on the matter.

A day earlier, the King’s spokesperson reiterated that the monarch would not interfere should Australians choose to pursue a republic. Dr Nathan Ross, the King’s assistant private secretary, highlighted Charles's "deep love and affection" for Australia, adding that any future changes to the monarchy’s role are ultimately for the Australian public to decide.
