Monarch sends warm note to former US President Jimmy Carter after son’s UK visit
Just a day after Prince Harry left the UK for South Africa, King Charles issued a heartfelt personal message marking an important milestone in the United States. The monarch’s spokesperson expressed “warm personal greetings and great admiration” for former American president Jimmy Carter, who celebrated his 100th birthday on October 1st.
Carter, who served as president from 1977 to 1981, received the message as he became the first former president to reach a centenarian milestone. King Charles also acknowledged Carter’s long-standing public service and the special association the royal family shares with him, recalling the time Carter dined with the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace in 1977.
This personal note from the King followed Prince Harry’s visit to the UK for the WellChild Awards. The Duke of Sussex departed for South Africa without meeting his father, who remains at Balmoral amid his battle with cancer.
