King Charles Kicks Off Ambitious Australia Tour Without Queen Camilla

Monarch and Queen Travel Separately Amid Historic Visit

King Charles has begun his historic tour of Australia solo, as Queen Camilla opted for separate travel arrangements. This marks the first visit by a reigning monarch to Australia since 2011.

The King, 75, departed from Heathrow Airport early Thursday in high spirits, while Queen Camilla, 76, took a different flight following a private wellness break. The Queen later joined her husband in Singapore, where the couple reunited before heading to Sydney.

Upon arrival in Sydney, the royal pair faced stormy weather, carrying umbrellas as they were greeted by Australia’s governor-general Sam Mostyn and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

King Charles will continue his tour in Canberra, where he is set to deliver a significant speech at Parliament House. His schedule also includes an address at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), a key event for the Commonwealth.

During the visit, Charles will meet two leading cancer doctors, a particularly meaningful engagement as he continues his own cancer treatment. Despite his health challenges, the King is set to complete 36 engagements over the eight-day tour.

The royal couple will conclude their trip with a State Visit to Samoa, where Charles will deliver another important address at CHOGM, reinforcing his ongoing commitment to the Commonwealth.
