King Charles prepares for Australian tour, recalling Meghan Markle’s 2018 royal debut

King and Queen Camilla set to visit Australia, echoing the Sussexes’ memorable tour

King Charles and Queen Camilla are gearing up for an important royal visit to Australia, marking their first trip to the country since 2018. This visit draws parallels to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's high-profile tour in the same year, shortly after their wedding.

During the Sussexes' 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, Meghan’s pregnancy with Prince Archie was announced, and the couple captivated large crowds across 76 events, displaying their charm and approachability.

However, as revealed in Valentine Low’s book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, Meghan reportedly struggled to understand the purpose of some royal duties, including walkabouts, where she questioned the need for interacting with strangers and expressed surprise at not being compensated for the engagements.

As King Charles and Queen Camilla prepare for their own Australian tour, the Sydney Opera House, a key landmark in Harry and Meghan’s 2018 visit, will be illuminated in their honour, continuing the royal tradition of public engagement and celebration.
