King Charles Prioritises Royal Duties Over Prince Harry Amid Australia Tour

Sussexes Settle in Montecito, Purchase Home in Portugal

King Charles has chosen not to focus on Prince Harry amid the Duke of Sussex’s recent actions, according to royal commentator Hugo Vickers. As King Charles and Queen Camilla embark on their historic tour of Australia, news surfaced that Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, have purchased a home in Portugal, a move some view as a potential olive branch toward the Royal Family.

Despite this, Vickers noted that King Charles, who has not seen his youngest son since February following his public cancer diagnosis, is unlikely to spend much time concentrating on Harry’s latest developments. "The King has important matters to attend to, especially in preparing for his tour and focusing on his health. Harry needs to sort himself out, but the King has left the door open should his son choose to return," Vickers said.

The Sussexes have been living in Montecito, California, since stepping down as senior royals in 2020. While Prince Harry has expressed concerns about security and previously vowed not to return to the UK with Meghan, the couple’s purchase of a property in Portugal is seen by some as a step closer to reconnecting with the Royal Family. The couple resides in Montecito with their two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3.
