King Charles Shares Heartfelt Message After Returning from Australia and Samoa Tour

King Charles expresses gratitude for warm receptions in Australia and Samoa as he concludes first tour post-cancer diagnosis.

King Charles and Queen Camilla have returned to the UK after an 11-day tour of Australia and Samoa, marking their first international journey since the King’s cancer diagnosis. Reflecting on the journey, the King penned a personal note expressing his appreciation for the warm welcomes they received.

“As our visits to Australia and Samoa come to a close, my wife and I would like to thank both nations for the warmest of welcomes and for the countless fond memories we will carry in our hearts for many years to come,” Charles wrote. He added, “Even when we are far apart in distance, the many close connections that unite us across the globe and through our Commonwealth family have been renewed, and will remain as profound as they are enduring.” The note was signed with “Charles R. & Camilla R.”

The heartfelt message was shared alongside a rare, joyful photo of the royal couple on a Samoan beach, captured by photographer Chris Jackson.

The farewell tour in Samoa included a traditional ceremony honouring the King with a new chiefly title, To’aiga-O-Tumua. In a symbolic moment, Charles and Camilla were presented with sacred Ava, which they drank from coconut shells. “May God bless this Ava,” the King said as he raised his cup, concluding the memorable visit with a respectful nod to Samoan customs.
