King Charles Surprises Prince George with Expensive and Sentimental Gift: ‘Magic Up Here’

Monarch’s Special Gesture Highlights Close Bond with Eldest Grandchild

King Charles, known for his devotion as a grandfather, has made a meaningful gesture for his eldest grandchild, Prince George. As the first grandchild and future king, George holds a special place in Charles’ heart, and the monarch didn’t hesitate to show his affection with an extravagant gift.

For George’s first birthday, Charles installed a £18,000 Victorian-style Shepherd’s hut at his Gloucestershire home, Highgrove House. The hut, which includes a wood-burning stove and daybed, has become a favourite spot where George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, often play together.

This thoughtful gesture follows a family tradition, as Charles had a treehouse built for Prince William in 1989, which has since been refurbished for his grandchildren.

In another touching nod to his grandson, Charles named a field Prince George’s Wood and planted trees there to commemorate George’s birth. Reflecting on the special connection, Charles said, “I managed to plant it the same year that George was born... autumn is the magic up here, and finding trees with interesting autumn colours is half the battle.”

The gifts reflect King Charles' deep affection and desire to create lasting memories with his grandchildren.
