Royal Romance Exposed During Festive Night Out in Toronto
Harry and Meghan Markle, who cherish Halloween as a special part of their relationship, had a memorable but emotional experience during their first Halloween together in 2016. Just a few months into dating, the couple joined Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank for an Apocalypse-themed party at Toronto's Soho House, with Harry dressed as Mad Max in a costume borrowed from actor Tom Hardy.
However, the festive atmosphere took a devastating turn when the couple received a call that would alter the course of their lives. As recounted in Finding Freedom, the biographical account by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, Harry and Meghan were deeply invested in their “perfect” evening until their time together was disrupted by urgent news from Kensington Palace.
The call from Harry’s aides revealed that the press had discovered their relationship, with plans to break the story the following day. Reflecting on that night, Harry later wrote in Spare, “We’d been tipped before heading off to the Halloween Apocalypse that another apocalypse might be coming.”
