Duke of Sussex receives disappointing news in ongoing legal battle with UK media
Prince Harry, currently on a charity tour in South Africa, has been dealt a setback in one of his major legal cases in the UK. The Duke of Sussex, along with 40 other claimants, had accused the publisher of The Sun of engaging in unethical and illegal information-gathering practices, such as phone bugging and device tracking.
However, Justice Fancourt dismissed Harry’s claims, stating that the Duke had provided “no particulars whatsoever” to support his allegations. The judge expressed concern that the case was consuming an excessive amount of court resources, noting that it resembled more of a prolonged battle between two "well-resourced armies" than a misuse of private information case.
This is not the first blow Harry has faced in his legal battles. Last year, his phone hacking claims were also dismissed, with Harry asserting that a “secret agreement” with Buckingham Palace had delayed his ability to file the case.
While this ruling marks a significant setback in his UK legal efforts, the Duke recently scored a victory in his US immigration case. As he continues his charity work in South Africa, it remains to be seen how his other legal battles will unfold.
