Duke of Sussex Calls for Global Action During Solo Trip to South Africa as King Undergoes Treatment
Amid King Charles's ongoing cancer battle, Prince Harry has made an emotional appeal during his solo trip to Johannesburg, South Africa. Representing the HIV charity Sentebale, the Duke of Sussex urged world leaders to listen to young voices and address the digital divide, emphasising the importance of universal access.
During a panel discussion with stakeholders and business leaders, Harry said, "I’ve made it one of my life’s missions to create a platform for young voices, and we have seen time and time again that when they are listened to, they have the solutions." He also highlighted the disparity between the Global North and South, advocating for safer access to technology worldwide.
Harry’s heartfelt message comes as his father, King Charles, continues to undergo cancer treatment. The news of the monarch’s diagnosis, revealed by Buckingham Palace in February 2024, has left the royal family and the public deeply concerned. The King has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer ever since.
Prince Harry’s call to action, made during a time of personal difficulty for the royal family, reflects his ongoing commitment to global issues, even as he navigates the challenges of his father’s health crisis.
