Duke of Sussex Addresses Meghan’s Concerns with European Move for Children’s Royal Connections
Harry has made a significant choice, despite financial challenges, to ensure his children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, are not deprived of an important connection to their royal heritage.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently purchased a luxurious home in Portugal, where Harry’s close cousin, their daughters, resides with her family. This expensive investment, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, reflects a deeper motive beyond the financial strain.
“It seems they want Archie and Lilibet to build connections with their UK family,” Bond told OK! magazine. “Spending time with their cousins will be valuable, and Eugenie remains a key link between Harry and the rest of his family.”
Bond acknowledged that this move comes as a surprise, given Harry’s previous comments on financial concerns, noting that staying with Jack and their daughters or renting a property would have been more economical. However, the purchase suggests that Harry and Meghan plan to spend more time in Europe, offering their children a balanced cultural upbringing.
Royal author Tom Quinn also revealed that Meghan has expressed concerns about her children possibly resenting the lack of connection with their UK relatives. This decision may help alleviate her worries, ensuring Archie and Lilibet experience both their American lifestyle and European roots.
