Royal Expert Dismisses Concerns Over Potential Trump Administration Interference
Prince Harry may sidestep significant U.S. visa issues despite past drug admissions, even in the event of a Trump presidency, according to a royal expert.
In his memoir Spare, Harry openly discussed past use of substances like cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelics, sparking questions about his visa eligibility. U.S. visa applicants generally must disclose any drug history, with non-disclosure potentially leading to visa denials or bans.
The Heritage Foundation previously raised concerns, hinting at possible special treatment in Harry’s visa approval process. However, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes that, despite any “foolishness” in Harry’s admissions, his visa status is unlikely to face major obstacles, even with Trump back in office.
Fitzwilliams noted that, while Trump and the Sussexes have a complicated history, the former president is unlikely to risk a diplomatic stir over Harry’s status. Harry and Meghan have continued to reside primarily in Montecito since 2020, recently adding a Portuguese property to their residences but still treating California as home.
