The royal couple plans to offer a personal glimpse into their family Christmas celebrations.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to surprise the public with a special holiday message as they embrace a new era in the monarchy. The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly planning changes for the upcoming festive season, including breaking away from some long-standing royal traditions.
The couple, who previously delighted the public with a touching video announcing Kate’s successful cancer recovery, are once again aiming to share a more personal side of their lives. This Christmas, they plan to give a glimpse into their “normal” festivities, showing a more relatable and down-to-earth celebration at their Sandringham home, Anmer Hall.
According to a former courtier, “A little social media of the family eating chocolate and watching TV would be a very effective way of showing how normal Christmas is at Anmer Hall compared to what we hear about at Sandringham.” The source added that William and Kate, who are not "especially religious," prefer a more private celebration as opposed to the traditional grand gatherings at Sandringham Castle.
Reports have also surfaced suggesting that the couple is preparing to host a "rival party" at Anmer Hall, where Kate's family will be among the guests, signalling a more relaxed approach to the royal holiday season.
