Prince William joins forces with NFL to promote youth engagement and sports inclusivity
Prince William has added a new sport to his repertoire!
On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Prince of Wales attended a special event hosted by the NFL Foundation UK, an organisation focused on addressing the challenges faced by young people in underserved communities across the U.K.
Marking its three-year anniversary, the NFL Foundation UK, the National Football League’s first international charitable arm, works in areas with high deprivation levels, using sports to foster positive change.
During the event, William highlighted the significance of flag football, a fast-paced, non-contact version of American football, and praised how the NFL Flag initiative is transforming lives. The sport, which is gaining traction in the U.K., will feature in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The Prince met with NFL UK representatives and community partners to learn about the Foundation’s work in empowering young people. NFL athletes, including Welsh player Louis Rees-Zammit, and Phoebe Schecter, captain of Great Britain's Women’s Flag Football team, joined him at the event.
William also took time to speak with young participants to hear their stories about how the NFL Foundation UK has impacted their lives.
