Prince William Reflects on Teenage Milestones During BAFTA Visit

Reveals First-Time Driving Test Success and Shares Insights on Family Life

Prince William recently revealed that he passed his driving test on the first attempt during a visit to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) headquarters in London. The Prince of Wales, who serves as BAFTA’s president, shared this personal detail while engaging with young recipients of the Prince William BAFTA Bursary fund.

Recalling the milestone, William mentioned that he passed his driving test at 17 in 1999. His driving test took place near his family home at Highgrove, in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. For his birthday, then-Prince Charles reportedly gifted him a Volkswagen Golf, though the exact model has never been officially confirmed.

Before taking his test, William had already been driving on private roads and even set a record at a London go-karting track at age 13, surpassing a time set by racing legend Damon Hill.

During the BAFTA event, William also shared light-hearted insights into family life, discussing his children's screen time habits. He humorously noted that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis often "wrestle over the remote," with George particularly fascinated by gaming, while Charlotte and Louis enjoy watching films. William highlighted the importance of regulating screen time, especially as digital content becomes more accessible.
