Princess Anne Honoured at Prestigious Equestrian Event After Recovery from Injury

The Princess Royal returns to the public stage following horse-related accident

Princess Anne made a notable appearance at Wembley Arena last night, attending a prestigious equestrian event just weeks after recovering from a horse-related injury that left her hospitalised. The 74-year-old Princess Royal joined thousands of spectators to witness the Spanish Riding School of Vienna’s performance, a display of equestrian artistry featuring the renowned Lipizzaner horses, a breed cherished by the Royal Family.

Despite a recent concussion and minor injuries sustained from a horse accident in June, which required a brief hospital stay, Princess Anne appeared in high spirits. The event, hosted by TV presenter Nicki Chapman, showcased choreographed routines by eight riders and 26 horses, all set to classical Viennese music.

A long-time supporter of the Spanish Riding School, Princess Anne’s history with the prestigious institution spans decades. She was even granted the rare honour of riding a Lipizzaner horse during a 1969 visit, alongside her mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Nicki Chapman praised the Princess’s attendance, saying: “It was an absolute honour to host the opening night of the Spanish Riding School tour with The Princess Royal present. Sharing this magical moment with both The Princess and the British public made the evening truly unforgettable."
