Princess of York Backs Prince William Amid Ongoing Family Tensions
Princess Beatrice, 36, has found herself in the midst of royal tensions by openly supporting Prince William at the Centrepoint Awards on Wednesday evening. The Princess of York, currently expecting her second child, attended the event to stand by her cousin, the Prince of Wales, who has served as the charity’s patron since 2005, according to GB News.
Beatrice’s appearance is particularly significant as it demonstrates her support for William during his ongoing rift with Harry. Despite this, she has maintained a close bond with her cousin Harry, with whom she was seen walking alongside during King Charles III’s coronation in 2023.
Royal expert Grant Harrold, formerly King Charles’s royal butler, suggested that Beatrice could be pivotal in bridging the gap within the family. Harrold noted, "Beatrice could act as a peacemaker for Harry, William, and Charles. She’s close to both William and Harry, as well as the King—and they trust her."
In addition to Beatrice, other members of the Spencer family, including Lady Kitty Spencer and her sisters Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer, were also present at the awards to support William. As cousins to both William and Harry, the Spencers maintain a familial connection that has persisted through the royal challenges.
The Centrepoint Awards, hosted at the British Museum, celebrate the achievements of young people who have overcome homelessness. Prince William, continuing the legacy of his late mother Princess Diana, used the platform to call for “systemic change” to end homelessness in the UK.
During his speech, William praised the award recipients, saying, "I am inspired by the ambition and commitment of all the award winners and nominees this evening. You should all be incredibly proud of yourselves."
