Duke of Sussex finds family ally in Portugal during strained times
Princess Eugenie has reportedly taken a significant risk to stand by her cousin Harry and his wife Meghan Markle as they navigate a challenging period. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently purchased a holiday home in Portugal, the same country where Eugenie resides with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their two children, August and Ernest.
A royal insider revealed that Harry is likely aware that his children, Archie and Lilibet, may not form close bonds with William’s children. However, Eugenie's children, August and Ernest, might become the only royal cousins they regularly interact with.
“Harry must know his children are not going to grow up as friends of William’s children,” the source explained. “A bond with Eugenie's kids may be the only royal friendship Lilibet and Archie will have.”
Despite the ongoing rift between Harry and his brother William, Eugenie remains supportive, even though it may come with personal risks. Another source suggested that while Eugenie and her sister, their daughters, have no issues with Harry and Meghan, they are well aware of William’s strong sense of loyalty and the potential consequences of not aligning with him.
Eugenie's decision to offer support during brief holidays in Portugal is seen as a way for Harry to maintain a fragile link to the royal family, particularly for his children’s future, as the rift with William deepens.
