Princess Kate to Miss Earthshot Ceremony as She Focuses on Recovery

Prince William to host star-studded Earthshot Prize event in Cape Town without Kate Middleton.

Prince William is preparing for the upcoming Earthshot Prize ceremony in Cape Town next month, where the prestigious event will highlight groundbreaking African solutions to environmental challenges. Now in its fourth year, the ceremony will showcase a record number of nominations, spotlighting innovations across the continent as part of the initiative's mission to award £1 million annually to five winners over a decade.

The highly anticipated event will feature an impressive lineup of celebrities, including supermodels Heidi Klum and Winnie Harlow, who will join the festivities and help announce the winners. Other notable guests include American actor Billy Porter, known for his bold fashion style, South African broadcaster Bonang Matheba, and Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin and an Earthshot global ambassador.

Heidi Klum, an advocate for sustainable fashion, has voiced her dedication to improving the industry, and the evening promises captivating storytelling and musical performances to celebrate environmental initiatives, with a special focus on Africa. The ceremony marks the first time the Earthshot Prize will be hosted on the African continent, following previous events in London, Boston, and Singapore.

While Prince William leads the star-studded gathering, Princess Kate will not be joining him in South Africa as she prioritises her recovery from chemotherapy treatment. The Princess of Wales is gradually returning to public life under doctors' advice, but her absence at this year’s ceremony reflects her commitment to focusing on her health.
