Queen Consort Launches Project Supporting Women’s Rights, Honouring Duchess of Edinburgh’s Advocacy
As Queen Camilla’s visit to Samoa concluded, she paid a meaningful tribute to Duchess Sophie by launching a special project close to the Duchess of Edinburgh’s heart. The Queen Consort inaugurated the "Queen Camilla Pre-School of Hope," a new educational initiative aimed at raising awareness about women's rights and tackling violence against women and girls.
Buckingham Palace shared the update on social media, stating, "Her Majesty has opened the ‘Queen Camilla Pre-School of Hope’ as the Samoa Victims Support Group continues their mission to raise awareness and educate young people on preventing violence against women and girls. Thank you for your amazing work."
This initiative aligns with Duchess Sophie’s long-standing advocacy for women's empowerment. The Duchess has been a prominent voice in championing women’s rights, and earlier this month, the Royal Family honoured her dedicated efforts.
Sophie recently made history as the first royal to visit Chad, in Central Africa, where she highlighted the impact of the conflict in Sudan on women and girls. As a global advocate for the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda and a supporter of the UK's Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative (PSVI), she drew attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis affecting the region.
Queen Camilla's project in Samoa not only supports a vital cause but also acknowledges the significant work of Duchess Sophie in promoting women’s rights globally.
