Buckingham Palace Shares Details of Monarch’s First Day in Australia
King Charles III, who arrived in Sydney alongside Queen Camilla, has held an important meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during the first day of his six-day tour. Buckingham Palace released photos of the meeting on the royal family’s social media accounts, showing the King and Queen alongside the Prime Minister and his partner, Ms. Jodie Haydon.
The photo was captioned: "It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (@albomp) and Ms. Haydon, upon arrival in Sydney."
Upon their arrival, King Charles and Queen Camilla were greeted with a stunning light show at the Sydney Opera House, which was illuminated with images from previous royal tours. The couple’s visit began after they touched down in Sydney aboard a Royal Australian Air Force aircraft, despite a torrential rainstorm.
This meeting marks the beginning of the royal couple's tour, which will span six days and include several important engagements across Australia.
