Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Pregnancy Reveal Overshadowed Eugenie's Special Day
Sarah Ferguson was reportedly left "outraged" when her daughter’s 2018 wedding to Jack Brooksbank was overshadowed by a significant announcement from Harry and Meghan Markle, according to insiders. The glamorous ceremony, attended by celebrities such as Liv Tyler, Demi Moore, and Robbie Williams, was intended to be a celebration of Princess Eugenie’s big day.
However, amid the festivities, Harry and Meghan revealed that they were expecting their first child, Archie. While this news brought joy to the family, the timing caused considerable frustration, especially for Fergie. Author Tom Bower, in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors, noted that the announcement came at an awkward moment.
"Many questioned Meghan's decision to share her pregnancy news during the wedding," Bower stated. Others, including writers Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett in Royals at War: The Untold Story of Harry And Meghan's Shocking Split With The House Of Windsor, described it as a "huge social gaffe."
Despite this incident, Harry and Meghan reportedly maintained a close relationship with Eugenie and Jack. Three days after the wedding, Kensington Palace officially confirmed Meghan’s pregnancy, with their son Archie being born in May 2019 at Portland Hospital in London.
In his memoir Spare, Harry recounted how the couple first told Prince Charles about the pregnancy during the wedding reception, with his brother William being informed shortly after.
