Food Critic Praises His Parents' Compatibility and Royal Culinary Traditions

Tom Parker Bowles, renowned food writer and son of Queen Camilla, has ventured into new territory by sharing insights into his royal family’s gastronomic preferences in his latest book. Normally reserved about royal matters, Parker Bowles now feels it’s the right time to reveal some of their culinary secrets.

In an exclusive interview with HELLO!, he discussed the challenges of writing about his family’s food habits, acknowledging the potential perception of nepotism. "I knew that I was putting my head into the jaws of a lion," he joked, "but if I can't do it now, after a quarter of a century of writing about food, when can I?"

His new book, Cooking and the Crown, celebrates the culinary heritage of the royal family, featuring over 100 recipes, including some of his mother’s favourites. It spans historical dishes from Queen Victoria to King Charles, blending royal history with culinary flair.

Parker Bowles expresses deep appreciation for the Palace’s support, crediting King Charles for his involvement. Describing the King as "the kindest, most knowledgeable, lovely man," he likened asking him about food to consulting an academic.

Reflecting on the bond between King Charles and Queen Camilla, Parker Bowles said, "They’re very well suited. They work well together, and we’re happy that our mother’s happy."
