Prince Andrew is reportedly feeling hurt as King Charles has made a decisive move to end his brother's financial privileges, signalling a new stance within the monarchy. The King has terminated Andrew's £1 million annual allowance and security funding following Andrew's refusal to downsize his residence.
Royal insiders, including former palace butler Grant Harrold, reveal that this cutback is aimed at royals who are no longer fulfilling official duties. Harrold explained, "It doesn’t make sense for him to receive this support as he is no longer engaged in royal duties."
The Duke of York remains financially stable due to his inheritance from the late Queen Elizabeth, yet Charles's decision underscores a significant shift. While Andrew retains Frogmore Cottage, the King’s decision could reflect a broader push to streamline royal finances and responsibilities. Harrold further noted that, during his time at the palace, the royal family maintained close bonds, without the publicised tensions of recent years.
