King Charles' Goddaughter Speaks Out After Royal Family 'Snub'

India Hicks Announces New Collaboration Amid Monarch’s Vision for a Slimmed-Down Monarchy

India Hicks, goddaughter of King Charles III, has responded to recent changes within the royal family following what some have called a "snub" to certain members. Recently, Hicks announced her new partnership with accessory brand Penelope Chilvers, unveiling a capsule collection as she navigates her evolving relationship with the monarchy.

The 57-year-old commented on the King’s approach to modernising the monarchy by streamlining its core working members. Hicks revealed that both she and her mother, Lady Pamela Hicks—a former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II—support a reduced royal roster. “My mother believes in the slimming down of the Royal Family,” she told Marie Claire, viewing this shift as essential to a focused, modern monarchy. Hicks referenced King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales as the “core hard-working foursome” who embody this vision.

Notably, Hicks did not include other prominent royals like Princess Anne or the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh in her remarks, despite their substantial contributions. This omission has sparked conversation, recalling remarks from Princess Anne back in May 2023, when she mentioned “a few more people around” in a nod to past family dynamics. Anne's statement was widely interpreted as a subtle remark about Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew, who are no longer active in royal duties.
