Monarch Focuses on Reducing Stress, Avoiding Contact with Estranged Son
King Charles III, currently battling cancer, has reportedly not responded to Prince Harry’s recent phone calls and letters, aiming to keep his stress levels in check. Royal author Robert Hardman, known for The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, shared that the monarch’s advisors have encouraged him to limit communication with his estranged son for the time being.
“There is a sense that now is not the right time,” Hardman explained, citing concerns over Charles’s health and the added strain Harry’s memoir Spare and various public statements have placed on the family’s trust.
Many have questioned why the King and Prince Harry haven’t reconciled, particularly when Harry is in the UK. Hardman highlighted the complicated emotions on both sides, saying, “If you listen to what Harry has said in his TV series, in his book, in interviews, there’s a lot to unpack… but I’m sure the King would like to normalize things.”
Harry, who left royal duties in 2020, reportedly hopes to rebuild his relationship with his father and brother, Prince William. One of Harry’s friends commented, “At the end of the day, you can’t undo bloodlines. He’s seeking connection, not material gain—he’s at risk and wants family unity.”
