Eva Omaghomi Steps Down After 17 Years as Palace Sets New Inclusion Goals
King Charles has seen a significant departure from his staff, as Eva Omaghomi, his senior diversity aide, resigned after his recent tour of Australia and Samoa. Omaghomi, the first Black woman in a high-ranking role for the monarch, initially joined the Royal Household in 2021, following explosive allegations of racism made by Harry and Meghan Markle.
Omaghomi's appointment was intended to advance the Palace’s work with minority communities within the UK and the Commonwealth. Over her 17-year tenure, she was an influential figure, accompanying Charles on official engagements, including a notable visit to Rwanda. However, she was absent from his latest tour, sparking reports of her upcoming resignation.
A royal source expressed regret over her departure, stating, “Eva has been a much-valued part of The King’s team. She’s taking an exciting opportunity outside the Household but will continue to advise the King on community matters.” Her exit follows a Palace initiative to increase diversity, aiming for 14% ethnic minority staff by 2025—a policy set into motion after Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they discussed issues of “unconscious bias” within the royal family.
