Facing backlash, King Charles implements major green reforms following allegations of environmental violations.
King Charles has launched a swift eco-friendly initiative at Sandringham after he and Harry were implicated in a controversy over their private estates’ “secret millions.” The monarch aims to counter mounting criticism about his perceived hypocrisy on environmental issues.
In a bid to boost energy efficiency, approximately 2,000 solar panels have been installed at Sandringham, according to The Sun. Covering 2.3 hectares of former horse grazing land, the solar panels are expected to generate enough power for the main house and surrounding buildings, with any surplus energy directed back to the National Grid.
A source cited by Express.co.uk said, “King Charles has championed climate action for decades and consistently aligns his actions with his words.”
This green overhaul follows the release of a documentary, The King, the Prince & Their Secret Millions, which accused the Duchy of Lancaster and the Duchy of Cornwall of breaching environmental laws despite their public support for sustainability. The investigation also highlighted substantial profits earned from public entities like NHS facilities and charities.
The Palace has yet to release an official statement, but the Duchy of Cornwall previously noted that Harry, who took over as Duke of Cornwall in 2022, has pledged to implement comprehensive reforms within the estate’s operations.
