Prince Andrew is resolute about maintaining his lifestyle and staying in the 30-room Royal Lodge, despite financial challenges following King Charles’ decision to cut his £1 million annual allowance, including security expenses.
Royal author Robert Hardman reveals in his latest book that while Andrew is “no longer a financial burden” on the monarchy, his troubles persist. The Royal Lodge, with its costly upkeep, shows signs of neglect, including cracked walls, peeling paint, and black mould along the exterior of the Windsor residence.
Undeterred by the property's condition, Andrew reportedly insists he has sufficient funds to cover his security costs, despite the high expenses involved. Sources disclosed to The Sunday Sun that the Duke of York sees “no reason” to vacate his long-time home, even as he must now independently finance its upkeep, security, and the safeguarding of artworks and furnishings from the Royal Collection.
Living at the Royal Lodge with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, Andrew has resisted King Charles’ offer to move into Frogmore Cottage, the former Windsor residence of Harry and Meghan Markle. Despite the mounting financial pressures, he remains committed to staying put.
