Andrew Risks Losing Royal Possessions as King Charles Weighs Next Move
Prince Andrew may have avoided eviction from the Royal Lodge after proving a substantial annual income of over £3 million, but his troubles are far from over. Despite this financial display halting King Charles's initial plans, tensions between the brothers are escalating, with the King reportedly contemplating a new form of payback.
Royal author Robert Hardman, speaking on the Daily Mail's Palace Confidential podcast, noted that King Charles's authority over the Lodge is limited, as the property belongs to the Crown Estate, which answers to the government. However, the deteriorating state of the Lodge—marked by cracked walls, peeling paint, and black mould—has raised concerns about its upkeep.
While Andrew remains determined to stay, he may face the removal of valuable items by the Royal Collection, which could deem the property unsafe for housing significant artworks and furnishings. Hardman hinted that despite the show of funds, the Duke’s lease on the Lodge remains uncertain, leaving him at risk of losing more than just his residence.
