Royal Expert Compares Sussexes to Disgraced Duke Following King's Decision to Halt Andrew’s Support
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly faced a sharp comparison from royal expert Hugo Vickers, who equated their royal status with that of Prince Andrew after King Charles’s latest financial decision. The monarch recently ordered the Keeper of the Privy Purse to cut off Andrew’s financial support, as documented in royal author Robert Hardman’s updated book.
Vickers remarked that, like Andrew, Harry and Meghan are no longer involved in royal duties, which puts them on similar footing concerning royal financial entitlement. "Andrew has been pushed out of everything else and no longer serves in any public or charitable roles,” Vickers told The Sun, adding that this decision aligns with Charles’s practical approach to royal funding.
The expert further explained that King Charles appears to be distinguishing funds intended for public duties from personal support, reserving finances for those who actively represent the monarchy. “Since Andrew isn’t performing any public duties—much like Prince Harry—he is not entitled to financial support from those funds,” Vickers elaborated.
Amid these changes, reports suggest Andrew may soon lose his 30-room Royal Lodge due to financial strain. While Andrew was stripped of titles and patronages following allegations tied to Jeffrey Epstein, Harry and Meghan voluntarily stepped back from the Firm, seeking independence from royal obligations.
