Prince Harry Shares Heartfelt Reflections on ‘Life-Altering’ Invictus Games

Duke of Sussex Launches New Programme During Solo Visit to Canada

Prince Harry delivered an emotional speech about the profound impact of the Invictus Games as he launched a new educational programme during his visit to Seaforth Armoury in Vancouver.

The Duke of Sussex, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to support wounded, injured, and sick veterans through adaptive sports, reflected on the transformative power of the Games, not only for participants but for himself.

“Seeing them learn about the Invictus Games has had a profound impact on me,” Harry told the audience. “This is where Invictus starts to go even wider, beyond the Invictus community, into schools in Canada and, hopefully, around the world.”

He emphasised the resilience and courage of the athletes: “There’s resilience that has got them there, teamwork that has managed to get them to the starting line, and courage in getting them to that point. For some, even walking into a stadium filled with tens of thousands of people is a monumental achievement.”

During the visit, Harry launched a programme designed to introduce the Invictus spirit to schools, fostering discussions about perseverance, teamwork, and mental health among students.

The Winter Invictus Games 2025, set to take place in Vancouver and Whistler this February, will mark the first time winter sports such as Nordic skiing, wheelchair curling, snowboarding, and alpine skiing are included in the competition.

Harry’s solo trip to Canada, without Meghan Markle, underscores his deep commitment to the Invictus mission, a cause he has championed for nearly a decade.
