Duke of Sussex Teams Up with Jelly Roll in Playful Promotion for Closing Ceremony
Prince Harry has unveiled the headline act for the upcoming Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 closing ceremony in February, taking a creative and comedic approach that left fans amused.
In a lighthearted video shared on Instagram by the Games and country singer Jelly Roll, Harry appears at a New York tattoo parlour, recalling his September trip to East Side Ink. The sketch shows Harry hilariously pretending to get his first tattoo as part of his efforts to convince Jelly Roll to perform at the Games.
The clip opens with Jelly Roll enthusiastically greeting the Duke of Sussex. “Prince Harry wanted to get a tattoo today? This is the coolest thing ever!” the singer exclaims.
A bemused Harry clarifies, “I only came here to ask you to do the Invictus Games. There’s no tattoo in this—I can’t get a tattoo!”
Jelly Roll playfully counters, “I’ll play the Invictus Games if you let me give you your first tattoo.” After some banter, Harry relents, jokingly saying, “Alright, screw it, let’s go.”
In a nod to the Games, Harry “gets” an “I AM” tattoo on his neck, only to be surprised when Jelly sneakily adds his name in bold font underneath. However, Harry’s neck appeared clear in recent public appearances at the Grey Cup and Seaforth Armoury, confirming the tattoo was all in good fun.
The entertaining promo highlights Harry’s playful personality while building excitement for the Invictus Games, set to begin in less than three months. Jelly Roll’s participation adds a dynamic edge to the closing ceremony, underscoring Harry’s unique approach to promoting the global event that celebrates resilience and recovery through sport.
