Prince Harry’s residency in the United States is reportedly under threat following US President-elect Donald Trump’s latest appointment, raising fresh concerns about the Duke of Sussex’s immigration status.
Trump’s selection of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the new head of Homeland Security has sparked speculation that Harry’s visa situation could face increased scrutiny. Known for her tough, no-nonsense approach, Noem’s appointment has led experts to suggest that the Duke’s US residency is “hanging by a gossamer thread.”
The controversy surrounding Harry’s visa stems from his memoir, Spare, in which he admitted to past drug use. While US immigration law doesn’t automatically disqualify individuals with a history of drug use, it can be grounds for visa denial or revocation.
Last year, the Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security, seeking the release of Harry’s visa records on public interest grounds. However, a judge ruled that the documents would remain confidential.

Reports highlight Noem’s tough persona, which has drawn controversy in the past, such as an incident where she shot her 14-month-old dog, calling it “untrainable” and “dangerous.”
