Prince William Reflects on Childhood Memories with Harry in New Documentary, Highlighting Family Rift

Prince of Wales’s Homelessness Advocacy Reveals the Loneliness in His Charitable Journey

Prince William's recent mention of his brother, Harry, in his new ITV documentary Prince William: We Can End Homelessness has sparked mixed reactions, with some viewing it as a potential olive branch and others seeing it as a sign of the distance between the two.

In the documentary, which airs in the UK this week, William reflects on his commitment to tackling homelessness, inspired by early visits to shelters with his mother, Princess Diana, and Harry. Speaking on his first visit in 1993 to The Passage, a homeless shelter, William recalls how his mother’s compassion opened his eyes to the realities of homelessness, an experience that shaped his current efforts.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier weighed in on William’s rare mention of Harry, saying, “It’s been seen as an olive branch by some… but I don’t see it that way myself. The rift between them is still as wide as ever.” Dampier noted that it’s a missed opportunity for the brothers to collaborate on a cause that once united them.

William’s reflections underscore the impact of his childhood experiences with his brother, but also serve as a reminder of their growing separation. Observers have noted that without Harry, William’s charitable journey feels companionless, making his solo efforts even more poignant.

Prince William’s documentary will premiere in the UK on Wednesday and Thursday and will be available internationally on Disney+ from November 1. Meanwhile, Harry’s new Netflix series, focusing on the world of polo, is set to debut a month after his brother’s documentary.
