Future King Reflects on Africa’s Role in His Life Ahead of Cape Town Earthshot Ceremony
Prince William issued a deeply personal message to the public, sharing both his excitement and a tribute to his wife, Catherine, as he announced details of the upcoming Earthshot Prize Ceremony in Cape Town.
“Africa has always held a special place in my heart,” William wrote, explaining it was not only a place of solace in his youth but also where he proposed to Catherine. His love for the continent inspired the creation of the Earthshot Prize, a program focused on addressing environmental challenges.
In his message, William highlighted the growth of the Earthshot Prize and his pride in the achievements of this year's finalists. The event, to be held on November 6th, will draw 2,000 attendees, with the ceremony hosted in a specially constructed Earthshot Dome that has supported 650 local jobs.
As he prepares for his trip to South Africa, William underscored his commitment to championing environmental innovation, especially within African communities, and looked forward to the ongoing impact of the Earthshot Prize in the coming years.
