Duchess of York Focuses on Personal Journey Through Cancer Recovery While Avoiding Royal Tensions
Known for her steadfast loyalty to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson refrained from commenting on King Charles III’s recent financial cutbacks affecting the Duke of York. While attending an event in Australia, the Duchess of York instead opened up about her own journey with cancer and overcoming a lifelong struggle with food addiction.
In a heartfelt interview with the Daily Telegraph during her Australian book tour, the Duchess, now 65, shared insights into how her recent melanoma treatment helped her confront deeper issues. She revealed, “My melanoma scars, the scars of my cancer, it took me being literally carved up to cut away the addictions of self-doubt and self-judgment that I have lived with since the age of 11.”
Discussing her food addiction, she added, “When I got cancer, I put my life back in the middle and food back in its rightful place… I realised that I was eating instead of living.”
While she openly discussed her personal growth, Ferguson did not mention Andrew’s financial situation, opting to focus on her own health and resilience instead.
