Queen Camilla’s Son Hosts Fundraiser for Royal Marsden Cancer Charity Honouring a Young Mother’s Legacy
Tom Parker Bowles, son of Queen Camilla, has taken a heartfelt initiative during King Charles’ ongoing cancer treatment, describing cancer as “the most awful disease” at a charity event he hosted for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The event honoured Emma Bishop, a 38-year-old mother of two who tragically lost her life to stage 4 lung cancer. Despite her diagnosis, Bishop raised £100,000 for the charity, even completing the London Marathon in April 2023.
Parker Bowles, a celebrated food writer, shared his reflections on the disease’s impact: “So many people have been affected by cancer in every way. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been touched by it. This event celebrates an extraordinary woman and her incredible legacy.”
The fundraiser, held at Ixchel London on King’s Road, featured catering by celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine and was sold out in support of cancer research and treatment.
Parker Bowles, who has a personal connection to the cause, praised the Royal Marsden as “the most fantastic” charity. The organisation treated his late former girlfriend, Alice Procope, who passed away from cancer in 2021. He added that he maintains a close relationship with King Charles and Queen Camilla, visiting them regularly.
Reflecting on his stepfather, Parker Bowles said, “He is a man of warmth, intelligence, and humanity. I’ve always adored him.”
King Charles, diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer in February, continues to receive treatment as the Royal Family rallies around him.
