King Charles ensures a seamless transition for Catherine and William amid ongoing responsibilities
Buckingham Palace has reportedly begun planning for Prince William’s eventual ascension to the throne, as King Charles III takes steps to ensure a smooth transition for the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The 76-year-old monarch, currently undergoing cancer treatment, has reportedly held private discussions with Catherine about stepping into an elevated role sooner than anticipated, insiders revealed.
“She and Charles had a private meeting about her stepping up sooner than expected,” a source told Radar Online. These preparations aim to prioritise a seamless transfer of power when the time comes.
Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith shared that William and Catherine are already shouldering greater responsibilities as part of their preparation for future roles. “Although the King is carrying out his duties with determination, he has had to accept limitations during his treatment,” she explained.
The couple is reportedly using this time to reflect and prioritise. “There’s a sense of calm before the storm,” Bedell Smith added, noting how the transition planning has brought clarity to their focus on what truly matters.
Following the King’s coronation in May 2023, royal staffers are said to have begun drafting succession plans, further signalling the Palace’s commitment to a smooth transition in leadership.
