Monarch Attends Church Service Amid Preparations for Qatari State Visit
King Charles ventured out in the rain this morning for a solo appearance at the Sunday service held at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, marking his second consecutive week attending without Queen Camilla. The Queen continues to recover from a recent chest infection but is gradually resuming her royal duties.
Holding an umbrella, the King was warmly welcomed by Reverend Canon Dr. Paul Williams during his visit, which comes just ahead of a pivotal state event.
The royal family is preparing to host the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher. Their arrival in the UK tomorrow will kick off a busy week, with Catherine expected to play a prominent role in the proceedings.
A grand carriage procession along The Mall to Buckingham Palace will be accompanied by the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards and the Band of the Irish Guards, who will perform both nations' anthems.
This state visit marks the first time the Waleses will lead such a key welcoming event since hosting the South Korean President last November. While Catherine will participate in several engagements, she will not attend the state banquet, which will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla later that evening.
Having completed her cancer treatment earlier this year, Catherine is carefully easing back into her duties, making her reduced participation understandable.
