Duke of York Faces Growing Pressure to Avoid Public Scrutiny
Prince Andrew has been advised to step back from public life following fresh allegations involving an alleged Chinese spy, Yang Tengbo. Insiders reveal the Duke of York has been urged to "keep his head down" to avoid further backlash and reduce tensions within the royal family, especially for his brother, King Charles, who is battling cancer.
The 64-year-old Duke is expected to skip the royal family's traditional Christmas gathering at Sandringham this year, marking another step in his growing isolation from public royal events.
A source commented, “It’s hard to imagine him ever appearing with the family in public again. There’s only so many times he can be told to keep a low profile. Enough is enough.”
Andrew has already been stripped of his military titles and royal patronages following his association with Jeffrey Epstein and allegations of sexual misconduct, which he strongly denied. In 2022, Buckingham Palace confirmed that his royal roles were returned to the Queen with her approval.
Despite the controversies, royal commentator Charles Rae suggested that King Charles might find it difficult to completely distance himself from Andrew. “Charles can’t get rid of him entirely because he’s family. That’s the reality,” Rae stated.
Sarah, Duchess of York, has also pledged her unwavering support for Andrew, stating, “I won’t let him down. He’s supported me through thick and thin.”
Andrew’s absence from the Sandringham festivities underscores his diminishing role within the royal family, with sources suggesting he will now only appear at events like weddings and funerals. The ongoing controversies have made his public rehabilitation increasingly unlikely.
