Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to surprise fans with separate appearances in early December, coinciding with Catherine, Princess of Wales’s highly anticipated Christmas carol service on December 6.
Meghan is expected to attend a star-studded event honouring her friend Tyler Perry in Hollywood on December 4, while Harry will participate in the New York Times DealBook Conference the same day.
PR expert Ed Coram-James has suggested that the couple’s decision to pursue individual engagements reflects a strategic pivot aimed at salvaging their brand. “Joint branding is no longer viable due to relentless media backlash,” he told The Mirror.
The expert emphasised that Harry could restore his career by focusing on causes close to his heart, such as veterans’ welfare and conservation, while Meghan could leverage her acting background to return to Hollywood.
“Harry’s association with Meghan will always be seen as a liability in the eyes of many. He needs to go solo and focus on causes that matter to him,” Coram-James said, adding that Meghan could benefit from distancing herself from the royal narrative to re-establish her own identity.
This shift in strategy comes as the Sussexes continue to navigate public criticism and redefine their roles outside of royal life. While Catherine prepares to take centre stage with her festive event in the UK, Harry and Meghan’s individual appearances aim to steer their brand toward a fresh start in 2025.
