The Duke of Sussex's return to the UK for a high-profile trial sparks unease within the royal family.
Tensions are running high within the royal family as Harry prepares for a pivotal court appearance in January 2025. The Duke of Sussex is set to testify in his lawsuit against the publisher of The Sun, alleging unlawful information gathering between 1996 and 2011.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has warned that Harry’s courtroom revelations could create significant turmoil for the monarchy. “The trial will be sensational, just like his last appearance in the witness box. If Harry attributes comments to the King, true or not, it could cause absolute havoc,” Fitzwilliams told reporters.
The royal family, particularly King Charles, is reportedly bracing for the potential fallout from Harry’s statements. Fitzwilliams added, “There’s palpable nervousness about what he might disclose under cross-examination or in discussions with his legal team.”
Compounding the situation are reports of the monarch’s declining health, with the Palace allegedly preparing Prince William and Catherine to assume greater responsibilities.
As the trial date approaches, royal insiders expect Harry’s return to the UK to bring both personal and institutional challenges for the Firm.
