Monarch Hosts Changemakers at Buckingham Palace to Tackle Toxic Relationships Among Young People
Queen Camilla is taking a proactive role in addressing domestic violence by engaging with young changemakers at Buckingham Palace. The Queen, committed to raising awareness about toxic relationships among youth, has introduced a "pop-up scheme" aimed at schools across the UK.
Camilla hosted four young women from the charity SafeLives, whose impactful work was highlighted in her ITV documentary, Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors. The group discussed the challenges young people face when experiencing or witnessing domestic abuse, providing insights into how peers can better support each other.
Reflecting on the initiative, Queen Camilla shared her conversations with her grandchildren, emphasising the importance of youth-led efforts. “You’re virtually the same age as my granddaughters,” she told the changemakers. “They suggested pop-up shops in schools with a couple of changemakers, as young people often open up more to their peers than to adults.”
This significant event comes as Camilla recovers from a chest infection, which recently led her to step back from several royal engagements. Despite her health concerns, the Queen remains steadfast in her mission to champion meaningful causes, particularly those impacting young lives.
